Africa Twin on the Road Again!

Finally my Africa is back on the road. Stelios did a great job in cleaning the carburetors and general service of the bike.

I left Athens at 07:30, the bike was running sooth with plenty of power I stopped for gas in Lamia and Tempi, resting and having a coffee break for about an hour in each place.

I arrived in Hortiatis at 02:00. Overall a good time.

Now onto new adventures!

In the Shop

Woke early morning to take the Africa to my mechanic Stelios. It will be in the shop till Friday afternoon. There go the plans to leave early Friday morning....

Getting the Africa on the road again

I flew down to Athens from Thessaloniki to get my Africa roadworthy again.
It has been parked in my friends garage for the last 20 months.
Yikes! How time flies when you are not having fun....
Got a new Gel Battery model was a GTX14-BS. Late in the afternoon the battery was replaced but there was a problem with the carburetors as they had dried out and the throttle was stuck.
I opened the air filter and poured some white gas to help start the bike and get the carbs moving again.
After alot of coaxing the engine started and the carbs started to function but the overflow float was probably stuck and fuel steadily leaked onto the pavement.
It was soon obvious that the bike ws not going to be running well.
We finaly left the bike in the garage to be taken the next morning to Stelios my Mechanic in Kalithea. The battery was in though and my beloved Africa was runing (barely) enough to be taken on her own power to the service shop.
